Bethany College has announced the addition of a
marching band for the 2013-14 academic year, according to Bethany
President Dr. Scott D. Miller. The Stampede Marching Band will be directed
by J. Matthew White, lecturer in music at Bethany.
“Bethany College is very pleased to announce this exciting new
addition to the music program. It’s another great example of the how
we seek to improve the opportunities provided to our students inside and
outside of the classroom,” said Dr. Miller. “Matthew provides
the leadership and musical skills necessary to launch this new
endeavor.”
White currently serves as the director for the Pep Band and Wind
Ensemble. He also provides instruction for Bethany students who study
brass woodwind and percussion instruments. With 20 years experience
teaching and performing with instrumental groups that range from
elementary bands, middle school bands and high school bands to Trinidadian
steel drum bands, jazz bands, woodwind, brass and percussion ensembles,
White brings an expansive knowledge to the newest performance option in
the Music program at Bethany.
