Bethany College has
announced Rick Lowery, Ph.D.as the featured speaker for the
58th annual Oreon E. Scott Lectures to be held April 8-9 at
Bethany’s Mountainside Conference Center.
Lowery is an author, Bible scholar and an adjunct professor of
Hebrew Bible at Lexington Theological Seminary in Kentucky, where he also
served as dean. He is the author of several books on biblical studies and
social and ecological justice, including "Sabbath and Jubilee."
He’s currently writing a book titled "Genesis and Human
Rights." He is a former regional president of the Society of
Biblical Literature and is married to the Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins, General
Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the
US and Canada.
This year’s event will focus on “Genesis and Human
Rights.”
