Bethany’s 16th annual community-wide Día de los Muertos (Day of the
Dead) celebration was held to rave reviews on Oct. 29. Sponsored by the
Bethany College Spanish Club, and led by WLAC Section Senior Fellow
Gabriela Núñez and Club President Chelsea Sebetich, the cultural
celebration commemorated the event that is celebrated on Nov. 1-2 each
year throughout the Spanish-speaking world, especially in Mexico.
Authentic Mexican-style food and drink, prayers, poetry, and
music in Spanish were enjoyed by a large number of Bethany students,
staff and faculty. The event was organized by chair of the world
languages and cultures department Joe Lovano, professor of finance Anju
Ramjee, professor of world languages and cultures Harald Menz and Kim
Lawless.
