Faculty Spotlight

Economics
Wilfrid W. Csaplar Jr., Professor of Economics, attended the Midwest Economic Development conference in St. Louis during spring break in March. While there Csaplar chaired a session in Economic Development and acted as a discussant for a paper entitled “Taxes, Public Goods and Policies of (In)Competent Politicians,” authored by Odilon Camara of the University of South Carolina.

World Languages & Culture
Heidelberg exchange student and special education major Kathrin Brandt and First Year Spanish & German Education student Gerhard Schultze attended the 58th Annual Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages in Baltimore, Md., April 2-3. Accompanied by World Language Professors Joseph Lovano, Harald Menz and Eric Bennett, they attended a variety of workshops and presentations related to the conference topic “Strengthening Connections: Colleagues, Content, & Curriculum.”  The group also met with alumnae Beth Degges ’03 and Jackie Berda ’00, who also attended the conference. Degges and Berda were both Spanish/education majors at Bethany and now hold positions at Maryland and Pennsylvania high schools.
