Visual and Performing Arts
On January 7, Herb Weaver, Professor of Fine Arts, delivered the keynote address at the "Advanced Placement Strategies Conference & Workshop" in Dallas, Texas. Titled "Look Up From Your Art", the content of the address focused on innovative art curricula for high school teachers.
 
Luke Hardt, Associate Professor of Theatre, Director of the Bethany College Theatre, and Chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts,  has a principal role in an upcoming mini-series, 'The Men Who Built America' for the History Channel.  The episode is an enactment of The Homestead Riots and Luke is the leader of the Pinkertons, Bill Heinde.  You may not recognize him as he is bearded, toting a gun and pistol-whipping a striker.  He's back to normal now.

Heather Ricciuti, The Mary Cutlip Director of Libraries & Learning Resources, traveled to the University of Charleston in West Virginia on January 9th for the 2012 Appalachian College Association Summit Planning Committee meeting.  ACA Summit XV, "The Changing Landscape of Higher Education in Appalachia: Opportunities, Challenges, and Successes," will be held at the Knoxville Convention Center in Knoxville, Tennessee on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13, 2012.
