Mollie Cecere Named Bethany College’s New Director of Enrollment

Mollie Cecere has been named to the position of director of enrollment management at Bethany College, according to Dr. Scott D. Miller, President of the College. Until her appointment at Bethany, she served as associate director of admission and recruitment for Point Park University.
 
“I am impressed by the special role that Bethany College plays in American higher education,” Cecere said. “I am excited about the opportunity to provide leadership for the Center for Enrollment, a department that has been instrumental in the success of the College in recent years.”

Cecere graduated from Saint Vincent College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication, specializing in public relations and advertising and from Point Park University in 2006 with a master’s degree in business administration.

Economics Honor Society Holds Induction

Five students were inducted into the Omicron Delta Epsilon international honor society in Economics last night in the Bethany Club. Gamble Presents Paper at Popular Culture Conference

Dr. Mort Gamble, executive assistant to the president, presented a paper at the joint national conference of the Popular Culture Association and American Culture Association on March 27 in Washington, D.C.

Gamble’s paper, “Where the Circus, and Much More, Once Reigned in the Nation’s Capital,” focused on the historic Uline Arena (at one time renamed the Washington Coliseum) at 3rd and M. Streets, N.E., the site of many events including the first live American concert by The Beatles following their appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show” in 1964.

Gamble is a circus historian registered with the World Circus Federation (Federation Mondiale du Cirque), a global circus organization under the patronage of H.S.H. Princess Stephanie of Monaco.

Bison Football Golf Classic

Bethany Football will host its annual Bison Football Golf Classic on Saturday, May 4 at the Highland Springs Golf Course in Wellsburg. Donation to play in the outing is $100 which includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, food and drinks on the course, and the post outing social at The Bison Inn. Young alumni (classes of 2009-2013) can play for a discounted price of $60.

Bethany Students Participate in the Etiquette Dinner

Bethany College students on March 28 participated in the annual Business Dining Etiquette and Communications Hands-On Workshop at Harder Hall in the Mountainside Conference Center.

All food was prepared by Chartwells Catering Service.  The dinner is hosted by the Office of Career Counseling and Placement, and conducted by Chartwells Regional District Manager Gene Castelli.

The five-course dinner is designed to be challenging and teach students what not to order during a business meeting. The dinner consisted of brie and apricot crostini, french onion gratinee, napoleon with parmesan crisps and herb salad with sliced baguettes appetizers; an entrée of California rolled chicken breast, fettuccini alfredo and string beans; and a jumbo cream puff for dessert.

The dinner is offered to junior and senior students and stresses the importance of business dining etiquette, and enables students to gain a true feel of networking by combining the presence of local business representatives and college faculty at each table.

In attendance this year were alumni Art Bertol ’82 and Randy Shah ’03 and business leaders Zach Abraham, chief human resource and compliance officer of McKinley|Carter Wealth Services, Inc.; Seth Abraham, senior vice president of human resources at Citizen’s Bank; and Tammy Bober, West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources supervisor. Members of the college community were also in attendance, including John Osborne, director of career counseling and placement; Katherine Shelek-Furbee, chair and professor of social work; Ashley Kanotz, director of alumni and parent relations; and Amy VanHorn, administrative assistant for social work and career counseling and placement.
